BLM scheduling meetings on Nevada wilderness areas
ELY, Nev. (AP) — The federal Bureau of Land Management is planning public meetings to gather comment about its management plan for the Weepah Spring and Worthington Mountains areas.
The Weepah Spring wilderness is in Lincoln County, about 35 miles north of Alamo.
The Worthington Mountains wilderness is also in Lincoln County, about 30 miles northwest of Alamo.
The agency says it’s preparing a single management plan for the two areas because of their proximity and similarity of issues.
The meetings are planned May 24 in Las Vegas and May 25 in Caliente.
The BLM anticipates making a draft plan available for public comment in spring 2011.
A final plan is scheduled for completion in summer 2011.
