Feral horses becoming 'sacred cows'

Editor: Demonizing the livestock industry, involved in food production, in favor of feral horses is like demonizing farmers in favor of weeds. I can almost guarantee our ancestors hunted horses for food before they learned horses could pull a plow (or a chariot, etc., etc.).
I recall during World War II, the government encouraged families to grow their own vegetables, etc. I even remember a ranching family giving us some lean, red meat. I don't know if we were eating horse meat or not because they called it "breaded veal cutlets."
I should add that we also raised our own chickens and rabbits. Now we wouldn't think of eating our cute little bunny friends but we sure ate a lot of "four legged" chickens!
Allowing feral horses to become America's "sacred cow" and allowing them to proliferate with no effective means of control is irresponsible.
